• HANDEL & HENDRIX IN LONDON

  Separated by 200 years, London's Brook Street was home to two of the cities most famous émigré musicians. Handel House Museum, recently renamed as Handel & Hendrix in London is a unique and beautiful home for research, music and education in the heart of Soho.

   

  Their mission is to promote knowledge, awareness and enjoyment of Handel and his music to as wide a public audience as possible. They strive to inspire, educate and inform through the interpretation of the Georgian house at 25 Brook Street, where Handel lived and composed for 36 years, through live music performances, educational and outreach activities and collecting, exhibiting and interpreting objects related to Handel’s life and works.

   

  In addition, Handel & Hendrix in London aims to promote the continuing and diverse musical and cultural heritage of 23 Brook Street through its association with Jimi Hendrix who lived here in the late 20th century.

   

  The Amadè Players are proud to have established a research and performance partnership with Handel & Hendrix in London, and to be working with curator Claire Davies in developing interesting and education programmes in our 2017-2018 Season.

• GERALD COKE HANDEL COLLECTION

  We return to the Bloomsbury Festival with a rare performance of Handel's Nine German Arias (Neun deutsche Arien, HWV202-210).

   

  Soprano Rebecca Ramsey is joined by violinist George Clifford, and a continuo team of Lucia Capellaro (violoncello) and Katarzyna Kowalik (harpsichord).  The performance opens with a panel discussion on Handel's life in London and use of Brockes' poetry, featuring Claire Davies, Curator of Handel & Hendrix in London and Nick Newland, Director of The Amadè Players.

• BLOOMSBURY FESTIVAL

  Since first appearing at the 2015 Bloomsbury Festival, we are delighted to be returning in 2017 with a special programme of arias by Handel.

   

  Established in 2006, Bloomsbury Festival is a creative explosion of arts, culture and science.  For five days each October, the streets, parks, museums, galleries, laboratories and public and private buildings of this vibrant cultural quarter play host up to 130 events which attract a significant audience from across London and beyond.

   

  With a unique blend of academic institutions, businesses, cultural organisations and diverse communities, Bloomsbury has been a catalyst for ideas that have had impact across the world for hundreds of years.  Bloomsbury Festival celebrates contemporary Bloomsbury; a hotbed of creativity and pioneering development which has one of the youngest and most diverse populations in the country.

   

  The Festival works with many large and small partners to create and deliver its annual programme.  More than simply a showcase for the area, instead Bloomsbury Festival acts as a catalyst bringing together artists and academics, scientists and dancers, musicians, publishers and school pupils to make new projects and to inspire and learn from each other.

   

  Outside the Festival period, Bloomsbury Festival delivers community engagement and arts projects across the year.  These include it’s pioneering project, Festival in a Box, which takes artists into the homes of people living with dementia to provide life enhancing and joyful cultural experiences for people who are often lonely and isolated.

• RESONUS CLASSICS

  Based in the UK and launched in the spring of 2011, the award-winning classical label Resonus Classics has a growing reputation for high resolution classical music recordings supporting diverse and eclectic repertoire with artists from across the globe including the UK, the Netherlands, France, Iceland, Australia and the USA.
